Cajasian Round Steak and Vegetables
This slow cooker meal is easy to prepare and most of the prep work can be done the evening before. When I do a slow cooker meal, I usually have to start it at 6 AM, so I put my vegetables in when I come in at four so that they don't overcook before we eat around seven. You can put all the vegetables in with the meat at the beginning of the day if that is easier.
Ingredients
- 1-2 lb round steak
- 2 TBSP Creole Seasoning
- 2 carrots sliced
- 2 green or red peppers sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cups sliced okra (or use a package of fresh or frozen sugar snap peas if you don't have okra)
- 1 8 oz can sliced water chestnuts drained
- 1 envelope dried onion soup mix
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp Tabasco
- rice
Instructions
- Cut round steak into strips and place in the sprayed slow cooker.
- Coat with the onion soup mix.
- Add the water, Tabasco, and soy sauce.
- Add the vegetables at this point, or wait until about two hours from serving and add them then.
- Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
- Serve over rice.
