Mom’s Secret Spaghetti Sauce
This spaghetti sauce is one that my mother taught me. She got it from a friend who worked at Pete's Place in Krebs, Ok. If you have never heard of it, it's an amazing Italian restaurant in southeast Oklahoma.
Equipment
- Vegetable Spiralizer This is an excellent spiralizer to get if you are just trying veggie noodles.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef browned
- 3 16 oz cans tomato sauce
- 1 8 oz can tomato paste
- 1 16 oz can diced tomatoes drained
- 1 cup onion diced
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 4 Tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 2 Tbsp diced garlic
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp sugar (I will fight over this one)
Instructions
- Brown and drain beef.
- Heat oil in large sauce pan over medium heat.
- Add onion and minced garlic, cook until tender.
- Add remaining ingredients including beef.
- Heat until it begins to bubble. Turn heat to low.
- Cook uncovered for two hours, stirring every thirty minutes or so.
- Serve over pasta of choice with parm or mozarella cheese.
- This also can be served over veggie noodles. Simply spiralize noodles and heat in a skillet with a little olive oil.
Notes
I add fresh herbs to this if I have them. I also use fresh tomatoes in place of the canned if I have them.
