Taco Pizza
This taco pizza is a family favorite. It easily feeds a family of four, or it makes supper and a couple of lunches for two people. This is also a perfect use for those tortilla chip remnants at the bottom of the bag. The pizza shells are usually with the pizza sauce in the grocery store. My family prefers the thin and crispy shells.
Equipment
- 1 14" Pizza Cutter optional
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 envelope taco seasoning
- 1 can refried beans
- 1 cup salsa
- 2 thin pizza shells
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 cup crushed tortilla chips
Condiments
- lettuce
- sour cream
- jalapenos
- green onions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Brown hamburger, drain, then add taco seasoning according to package directions.
- While the meat is browning, heat beans and one cup of salsa together. It doesn't have to be bubbling, just hot enough to make a spreadable mixture.
- Spead the bean and salsa mixture evenly on the two shells, making sure to go to the edge of the crust.
- Sprinkle the seasoned beef evenly on the shells.
- Distribute the crushed chips on top of the pizzas.
- Place the cheese, whatever kind the family likes, on the pizzas.
- Place the pizzas side by side, directly on a rack placed in the middle of the oven. This scared me the first time I did it, but it will be fine. I promise.
- Bake for 15 minutes, until the top is a little brown, the cheese has melted and the crust is brown.
- To remove from the oven, use a heat proof utensil to slide the pizza onto a baking sheet or a pizza stone. Use a pizza cutter to slice into desired portions.
- Serve with the typical taco toppings.
